Who are the partners?

Nexus Mundi brings together partners together from three worlds: private industry, bi-lateral and multi-lateral entities and local institutions.

a) Telecomunications corporations contribute contribute specialized knowledge and technical resources

b) National and local governments support the project because it fits their development policies and contributes to the national educational effort. Banks provide the financial resources.

c) Local institutions, primarily run by NGO’s and faith-based groups, provide a real value in established structural presence and offer the location to house telecenters. The local community works for the project and develops a sense of ownership.

Faith-based organizations--such as the Society of Jesus (Jesuits) that have extensive on-the-ground experience working with local communities in Africa and South America--serve as the core personnel for the operations of Nexus Mundi’s programs. Their experience living and working in the communities they serve provides an unprecedented advantage in developing community support, lowering operating costs, securing sites (e.g., schools, health clinics, refugee camps, women’s organizations), and facilitating the introduction and implementation of NMF’s programs to ensure their long-term sustainability.

Community radio stations help to disseminate public information developed by Nexus Mundi on education, health, agriculture, civic participation, human rights, micro-enterprise development and other relevant topics.

Content development of Nexus Mundi programs is provided by a range of partners, including university research centers, UN and international agencies, NGOs, technology companies, and local community-based groups and individuals. Training is provided by local faith-based groups. Some of the top telecommunications experts in the field provide technical support.
